About Herd Law
Herd Law started as a sole practitioner firm in May 2004. Georgette was formally a specialist personal injuries Lawyer with one of the UK’s leading personal injury law firms, specialising in Industrial Lung Diseases. She also has a general background in Litigation. In April 2000 Georgette relocated from Edinburgh to Orkney having taking some time off to go travelling as a PADI dive master.
Herd Law now provides discrete private client services to a range of clients throughout Orkney & Shetland and has seven staff members over the offices in Orkney and Shetland.
Our Ethos is to provide Ethical Legal Services across the board. We continue to offer a full Legal Aid service although with ever increasing cuts to the Legal Aid budget this proves to be challenging. We also provide Fixed fee services and are happy to enter in to instalment feeing arrangements with our clients to suit their needs. We provide complex litigation advice.
Georgette is a current director of the Scottish Mediation Network, an organisation for the promotion of Mediation as a better way to resolve disputes. She is also on the Board Of THAW, an Orkney based charity which aims to tackle fuel poverty in the islands and ensure household affordable warmth. She is a former director of Relationship Scotland Orkney, Couple Counselling Orkney and Women’s Aid Orkney. Georgette is currently studying at Heriot Watt University’s diploma course in renewal energy development. Georgette is a member of UK Environmental Lawyers Association and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
